Men are Happier?

(Gallup, Inc. is an American analytics and advisory company based in Washington, D.C. Founded by George Gallup in 1935, the company became known for its public opinion polls conducted worldwide.)

The study showed the employees in Germany are generally satisfied ( about 65%) but apparently not engaged. 📉

The dismal engagement level alarmed me at around 15%.

(see study link in the comments).😯

We define engagement as “employees are motivated by a sense of support and emotional attachment to their employer. The positive effects of engagement can be seen in greater profitability, productivity, and discretionary diligence.” Gallup estimates that

𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝟴𝟬.𝟯 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟭𝟬𝟱.𝟭 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗼𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆.💢💥

Well, I wanted to see if current socio-economic changes had changed the study results, but to my surprise, the pandemic-influenced narrative of 2020 changed nothing.⭕

“In fact, the engagement rate in Germany has shown practically no change for the past 19 years, with the percentage of engaged sitting somewhere between 11% and 17%.” Nothing has touched it yet-- not the Euro crisis, not a global recession, not even a pandemic.

In spite of the low engagement figures, employees report a high satisfaction rate.

But with a stark difference among genders: 71.4% of men are happy compared to only 59.4% of women.🙅‍♀️🙆‍♂️

I share with you relevant views from other women on the possible reasons for these findings.

The challenge is real, it is not easy to combine raising a family and building a career.

I have always been working while raising my three children in Germany and a client of mine recently told me she gets promoted every time she gets pregnant ... so it appears mindset matters too. It is definitely not easy but it can be done: it is not fatal nor is it final.
