Are you Happy ?

Updated: Aug 5, 2022

I recently had another survey within my LinkedIn network to try to determine the non-quantitative aspect of a career. The last poll was about payment the monetary consideration and the answers were fast and plenty.

The level of engagement surprised me. Perhaps because everyone understands money and when money talks, everyone listens. But some respondents insist money is not enough and there are other job considerations. This prompted me to ask: WHAT IS A MEANINGFUL CAREER. It is a simple attempt to capture what my network thinks. Of course, a survey needs to be partnered with a conversation or discussion for better understanding. I am doing that by the way as I develop a new course- Meaningful and Profitable Career. I am also deep in discussion with the potential market, if you are interested to join the discussion and share your thoughts with me, please click the link and we can have a cafe zoom together.

It is clear from the results we all want to contribute and be part of something bigger than ourselves, but often, we are ‌too consumed or too tired to do anything else. Our energy level has gone down⏬ and our anxiety has gone ⬆️ ? in that case, how can we ever aspire for more? See this post to learn more.

Driven women, like you, see growth in learning new skills and gaining experience from a different but related field however I saw that lack of confidence limited some to advocate for themselves. They are too shy to volunteer for key roles and simply wait for an appointment. This lack of belief in themselves or Imposter Syndrome has caged many to roles they have actually outgrown.

Some career women who have started a family are naturally concerned about having both the time and energy to spend with their loved ones. A demanding job might leave them too drained to attend to family concerns but let me share a SECRET, manage your energy to manage your time. There are proven ways to be a CEO in your family so that you can have the time and energy to be more.

A number also prefer to be part of a supportive team this provides them the security and possibly the validation that their work is valued and appreciated.

The results indicate women value different things at different times of their lives. These are never static or in a vacuum what you prioritize depends on what stage you are at in your life because ultimately our jobs are a means to support our lives. That is why money or the profitable part is so intertwined with the meaning or quality of our careers.

We need clarity on The WHAT before we The HOW. If you want to have this clarity and the road map to get your own Meaningful and Profitable Career, schedule a free discovery call.
